Knowledge

1-10-16

Today is one of those days I really wish I could speak Greek. The language is wonderfully descriptive and precise. English, and it hurts me to say this, doesn't have the same depth. Our next installment of 2 Peter 1:5-7 is about knowledge. Today we use the word as to have the intellectual understanding of something, but there is another layer to it that English doesn't capture.

Virtue

1-3-16

Hello reader! This post is the second in our series from the characteristics of Christians in II Peter 1:5-7. The first element given in this list in faith (you can read that post here). Faith is the foundation from which we build everything. Once we have the knowledge of God and trust in it, the next logical step is to act on it. That is where virtue comes in.

Happy Sunday!

This isn't an official blog entry, but I wanted to share a thought. :)

Today at Church I was reminded of the beauty of the song service. One of the acts of worship is singing. It is for God, but it is also for our benefit.

Ephesians 5:19
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Notice how the verse says we are speaking to each other. I often lose sight of the fact that we are actively encouraging each other while we sing. I've been thinking that life should be like a musical where we always sing. Part of worship is like that!

So at the next Church service you are able to attend, sing to God and your brothers and sisters. Encourage them and let the songs be uplifting to you.

May the Lord bless and keep you,

Heather
